Ever since we launched our website, we have been assisting new vapers with their choice of devices and juices. We’ve put together the following beginner’s guide to vaping.
What are the components of a vaping device?
Drip tip: this is the mouthpiece, the part that you inhale from.
Tank: this is where your e-liquid is placed.
Coil: this is usually a metal coil surrounded by cotton but other types are available. This acts as the wick to warm your e-liquid and produce vapour.
Battery: this is the power source for your vaping device, which heats up the coil.
What kinds of vaping equipment are available?
CE4 eGo Kit: these used to be the most popular choice for new vapers, being basic, compact devices and normally cheaper. Superseded in recent years by the greater affordability of vape pens.
Vape pens: Slightly bigger than the CE4 Kits, vape pens have improved considerably over the years. Their larger, lower ohm coils offer a greater hit and more flavour from your e-liquid.
Mod and Tank: there are many different designs of mod and tank vaping devices. Probably the most effective way to vape, they boast increased power and battery life over vape pens.
RDAs, RDTAs and Mechanical Mods: these are high-end, customisable vaping devices that are not recommended for beginning use.
How do I vape?
Mouth to Lung (MTL): similar to smoking cigarettes, you draw the vapour into your mouth prior to inhaling.
Direct to Lung (DTL): as the name suggests, this method involves drawing the vapour directly into your lungs in one go. Best achieved with a larger atomiser.
What is in e-liquid?
E-liquid comprises a base liquid of propylene glycol (PG) and vegetable glycerine (VG) in various ratios. To this is added a flavouring, as well as varying strengths of nicotine.
